Who we are

Exit Index (exitindex.co.uk) is run by Shaun Bennett trading as Exit Index (“we”, “us”).

How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.

General information, not advice

Everything on Exit Index, including articles, guides, deal coverage and the readiness quiz, is general information for business owners. It is not financial, investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. The readiness quiz gives a general indication only. It is not a valuation.

Before making decisions about selling, valuing, restructuring or handing over a business, take advice from qualified professionals who know your situation.

Accuracy

We take care to make our content accurate when we publish it, but we cannot guarantee that it is complete, correct or up to date. Laws, tax rules and market conditions change, and articles reflect the position at the time they were written.

Our deals coverage and news are based on public sources, such as press releases, company announcements and other publications, which we credit. Details can be incomplete or change after publication. If you spot an error, please email us and we will look into it promptly.

Our content and how you may use it

The content on this site, including text, tables, graphics and the Exit Index name and logo, belongs to us or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You are welcome to:

  • share links to any page;
  • quote short extracts, as long as you credit Exit Index and link to the original page;
  • print or save pages for your own personal use.

You must not, without our written permission:

  • republish, copy or distribute our articles or deal coverage in full or in substantial part;
  • use our content for commercial purposes, for example in a paid newsletter or database;
  • scrape, harvest or systematically download content from the site, whether manually or with automated tools, including to train artificial intelligence systems;
  • interfere with the site’s security or operation, or try to gain access to areas you are not authorised to use.

Deal tips and other material you send us

If you send us information about a deal, a tip, comments or other material:

  • you confirm that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you are entitled to share it, for example that it is not confidential and does not break any agreement or anyone else’s rights;
  • you allow us to use, edit, shorten and publish it, in whole or in part, in any format, without payment;
  • we decide what to publish, and we may verify details or decline to use material.

We will not name you as a source without your agreement. Please do not send us confidential or price-sensitive information.

We link to other websites, including the sources of the deals we cover. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link does not mean we endorse the site or its owner.

Some content may be sponsored by, or produced in partnership with, other organisations. It will always be clearly labelled as sponsored or partner content. Sponsors do not influence our independent editorial coverage.

Our liability

We provide the site free of charge and “as is”. To the extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its content, including loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity or data;
  • we do not promise that the site will always be available or free from errors or viruses.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. The version on this page applies whenever you use the site, so please check it occasionally.
